Due to a variety of schedule conflicts, the Texas Rockies 12U team elected to forgo the opportunity to appear in their third consecutive FBSA League Championship, winning the title in 2015 and finishing runner up in 2016, and take the route of playing in tournaments throughout the fall season. The team's 11U campaign was highlighted by five top-three finishes, including a runner-up finish in the AAYBA World Series to close out the season. In the team's ten tournaments in the spring, the Rockies consistently displayed their progression from the season prior and by no coincidence, were eliminated from each of their events by the eventual tournament champion.
