LEWISVILLE --- In Thursday morning's semifinal contest that sent the winner to play in the AAYBA World Series championship game, a first inning home run and a complete game performance on the mound from Aaron Reeves would prove to be the difference as TR Baseball 11U prevailed 5-1 over the North Texas Heroes.
Following a clean top the first inning tossed by starting pitcher Aaron Reeves, the TR Baseball 11U hurler helped himself at the plate in the bottom of the frame by smashing a fastball well beyond the centerfield fence for his second home run of the season. He would soon follow up the home run with an RBI double to left center in the third that would provide himself breathing room on the mound. TR Baseball 11U would never relinquish the lead from that point forward as the Heroes would tally just one unearned run and two base hits off Reeves throughout the six inning contest. Although issuing five walks in the game, Aaron executed his pitches when he found himself in jams and finished the game with five strikeouts. His masterful complete game performance earned him his team leading fifth win of the season.
TR Baseball 11U out hit the North Texas Heroes six to two in Thursday morning's semifinal matchup. Carter Cole, Collin Nicholson, Caden Robert, and Harry Sochia would each collect a hit a piece in the game while the offense also took advantage of four issued walks. Despite being limited at the plate, a strong defensive effort in centerfield by Jace Williams kept TR Baseball 11U's lead in tact to preserve the 5-1 victory over the North Texas Heroes.
The 5-1 win over the North Texas Heroes allowed TR Baseball 11U to advance on to play in the AAYBA Championship game against the Spring Crush on Thursday evening.
