Players of the Week: March 2-8

DALLAS - The Texas Rockies Baseball Organization would like to recognize the program's top performers from last week by naming John Stephen Hohmann, Lennox Byrd, and Bryson Sauceda as the Players of the Week for March 2-8.
 
 
OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
John Stephen Hohmann / 12U-Black
 
Hohmann slashed .444 AVG / .545 OBP / .444 SLG / .990 OPS by going 4-for-9 in eleven plate appearances with two RBI, nine runs scored, five stolen bases, one walk, and one hit by pitch across his four games played in the March Into Spring NIT tournament at The Parks at Texas Star.  Serving as the Rockies' lead off batter in each of the four contests over the weekend, Hohmann's best performance at the plate came against in the tournament's championship game where he went 3-for-3 against a tough opposing pitcher.  John Stephen's nomination for the Texas Rockies Baseball Organization's Offensive Player of the Week is his first this season.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK
Lennox Byrd / 12U-Black
 
Byrd (1-0, 0.00 ERA) made history in the Texas Rockies 12U - Black season opener on Saturday by tossing the 24th no-hitter in the Texas Rockies Baseball Organization.  The hard throwing southpaw also broke the program's all-time single game strikeout record by racking up fourteen punch outs throughout his five innings of dominance on the mound.  Lennox's selection for the Texas Rockies Baseball Organization's Pitcher of the Week is his first this season.

DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Bryson Sauceda / 12U-White
 
Sauceda led the Texas Rockies 12U - White ball club to a 2-2 finish in last weekend's March Into Spring NIT tournament by exhibiting stellar glove work on the baseball diamond.  In his four games played in the tournament, Sauceda accumulated two assists, eight putouts, and one double play in eleven total chances.  Bryson's nomination for the Texas Rockies Baseball Organization's Defensive Player of the Week is his first this season.
